One faulty track at Harlesden shuts sections of the Bakerloo and Lioness lines

A single faulty track at Harlesden has closed a section of two separate London lines, TfL's status record showed on Friday 14 August 2026.

On the Bakerloo, TfL states: "Bakerloo Line: No service between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone and MINOR DELAYS on the rest of the line while we fix a faulty track at Harlesden. Tickets are being accepted on London Northwestern Railway and London Buses."

The Lioness entry names the same fault: "No service between Watford Junction and Willesden Junction while we fix a faulty track at Harlesden. MINOR DELAYS on the rest of the line. Tickets are being accepted on London Underground."

Track faults now sit at five locations across six lines. Beyond Harlesden, TfL records them at Gospel Oak on the Mildmay, at Stratford on the Central, at Sydenham on the Windrush, and in the Acton area on the District.

The Mildmay has lost the longest stretch. TfL states: "No service between Stratford and Richmond / Shepherd's Bush while we fix a faulty track at Gospel Oak. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line. Tickets are being accepted on London Underground."

Severe delays run the length of the Central, where TfL is accepting tickets on London Buses, Chiltern Railways and Great Western Railway, and tells passengers to "board the first train and change at North Acton or Loughton where necessary to complete your journey".

On the Windrush, two faults are doing different things. The closed section between Sydenham and West Croydon is down to a signal failure at West Croydon, while the track fault at Sydenham causes severe delays between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace.

The District has minor delays between Turnham Green and Richmond, which TfL attributes to a track fault in the Acton area.

The Elizabeth line has lost its airport branch again. Its entry reads: "No service between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Airport and SEVERE DELAYS on the rest of the line due to an earlier power supply failure." The closure now names only the Heathrow stretch, so Reading services are running with severe delays, and TfL again tells airport passengers to use the Piccadilly line. The Smoke reported this morning that the power failure at Paddington had cut services to both Heathrow and Reading.

The Northern has also lost a section, with no service between Archway and High Barnet or Mill Hill East and minor delays elsewhere, while TfL responds to a fire alert at Finchley Central. Tickets are accepted on London Buses.

Severe delays continue on the Jubilee from an earlier points failure at Stanmore. Its ticket acceptance names the Mildmay line, which has no service between Stratford and Richmond or Shepherd's Bush; The Smoke reported earlier today on acceptance lists naming lines that are themselves down.

The Piccadilly has severe delays from an earlier customer incident.

Six of the eleven Tube lines are delayed. Checks returned good service on the other five, the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Victoria and Waterloo & City. Three of the six Overground lines are disrupted, with Liberty, Suffragette and Weaver running normally.

None of the five track fault entries carries an estimate of when the work will be finished.
